Actual Architecture Co. announces 2022 AIA Awards
Awards season 2022 is big one for Actual Architecture Co., FACT, and our furniture line mdMOD. From the AIA Central States Region, we won 3 awards this year:
Honor Award for Interior Architecture, FACT’s Bemis LOW END.
Jury Comments: “For a lower-level lounge/bar/music venue, the jury appreciated the playfulness and unexpected episodic moments this design created.”
Honor Award for (as yet) Unbuilt Architecture, DVLP Basketball building.
Jury Comments: “The large, glazed wall to the community and the pleated roof line and mass timber structure take a simple program and building and add a layer of interest and connectivity that is simple yet powerful.”
Honor Award, Architectural Detail for the furniture piece AVA.
Jury Comments: “We appreciated the simplicity and the flatpack approach with considered folds to result in an intriguing geometric form. The stackable, interlocking nature of this elevated a simple furniture piece into an architectural tool kit for walls, furniture or whatever your imagination can create.”
The Mineapolis-based jury only awarded 19 projects in total out of over 350 submissions. See award program details and all award winners here.
And from the AIA Nebraska Design Excellence Awards:
Honor Award, Architectural Detail for the 3_4_5 Table.
The Texas-based jury only awarded 15 projects in total out of over 150 submissions. See award program details and all award winners here.
Jury Comments: “The 3_4_5 Table was a joy for the jury to investigate and fully start to understand how these three forms come together so flawlessly. In addition, the flexibility inherent in the design allows it to be used a multitude of ways by responding so elegantly to the space in which it sits.”
