The corner of 18th and 3rd street is the heart of San Francisco’s Eastern District and the edge of Dogpatch, a light industrial neighborhood transitioning to address the city’s need for residential densification. This mixed use residential building provides 19 apartments, underground parking, and ground level commercial space. We embraced the context in form and eclectic, straight-forward materiality; the exterior is clad in corrugated steel siding of gradated tone, rough sawn wood at set-back top floor, and animated by taught bay windows that provide tenants with generous views of the shipyard and bay.
