Omaha Inland Port Authority unveils first phase on the North Omaha Innovation District plan

Actual Architecture Co. is honored to be part of the team developing a vision for the North Omaha Innovation District, an initiative of the Omaha Inland Port Authority. The project was announced by Mayor John Ewing Jr. and Senator Terrell McKinney with a public unveiling of the first design image. The team developing the Strategic Action Plan is led by HR&A Advisors and includes Actual Architecture Co., BVH Architecture, Vireo and Lamp Rynearson.

Located near the intersection of 30th & Ames in North Omaha, this initiative is about more than buildings. It’s about creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, workforce development, housing innovation, and long-term economic growth in the heart of North Omaha. This is another milestone in a vision that is being built with our community, our partners, and a commitment to lasting investment. The ongoing project will cover 12 city blocks and will include an innovation center for start-up business and nonprofits, at least 170 units of affordable housing of different types, and a “Creative Construction Campus” featuring flex space for construction innovation businesses including a structural insulated panel manufacturer, and architectural 3D printing company, modular housing, and a research & development space formed in partnership with local educational institutions.
